Tonight was our Hatsu Geiko 初稽古, first training session of the year. We started the year off with Kukishinden Dakentaijutsu, beginning at the start of the Shoden Gata 初伝型 (initial transmission forms) with Seion 生音 (living sound). We studied some variations of this waza and how it can be manipulated to be used many types of attack, and how it's form can be altered to achieve a similar result.

After the break we looked at the first of the Kukishinden Bikenjutsu gata, Tsuki Komi 附込 (attach and push in), and both of it's sayu gyaku (both sides or left right reverse).

A refreshing start to the year as it has been some time since we have studied Kukishin Ryu.
