Omote Gyaku Tsuki 表逆突 was the taijutsu focus of tonights class. The 2nd kata taken from the Torite Kihon Gata 捕手基本型 (hand capture foundation forms) from Gyokko Ryu, and 5th in the Kihon Happo. Correct footwork, angling, direction and final postion are crucial to the waza being performed properly. Knowing whether you're performing these locks correctly or just muscling them on is important. Like most taijutsu, one should be able to perform these techniques slowly, softly and with maximum efficiency.
After the break we continued with battojutsu ukemi. Focussing on Do giri uke 胴 斬り 受け, and Gyaku kesa giri uke 逆 袈裟 斬り 受け.
