Thinking of taking up training, but worried about CV-19? Here's how we're handling the challenge.
If you're thinking of taking up training and have been looking at our course starting on September 7th* then you might understandably be wondering how we're handling the challenges presented by Covid-19? First, you should know that training is extremely important to us - many of us have been training for decades - and as a result we'll do whatever it takes to make sure it can continue safely.
So here's what we're doing about it.
* We have adopted a 'pod' system at the dojo, with each pod made up of 6 people and as a result, the upcoming beginners course will only have 6 people in it. This is the recommended pod size, and even though Sport Ireland has said that we can have multiple pods in a class if we have the space to distance safely - and we do - we're not doing that. We're limiting the course to one pod.
* Everyone training will be required to wear a mask.
* There is a sanitisation station just inside the door of the dojo. Students are required to disinfect their hands at the beginning and end of each class.
* The first four weeks of the course will consist of socially distant training, even though we don't need to observe this restriction.
* The matted area of the dojo is scrubbed with soap and water between classes and then sprayed down with disinfectant.
We will have complete contact tracing information for each participant and basically, we're doing everything that can be practically done to keep training safe and secure. If you're thinking of taking part in our upcoming course and have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch. You can mail us at info@happobiken.com
*This course was due to start on August 31st, but we decided to push it out by a week to allow for more protective measures.
